Side Effects of Food Supplements

Consuming high doses of dietary supplements in a long time can cause side effects that are very harmful to the body. One thing to remember, dietary supplements are not necessary if a balanced food intake.

Food supplements can include minerals, fiber, amino acids and fatty acids are packed like medicine, but it's not medicine.
Vitamin C supplements are most often consumed in excess. Needs of the body of Vitamin C per day is 90 milligrams (mg), and can be satisfied from vegetables and fruits.
In Indonesia, many manufacturers offer Vitamin C with very high doses, from 500mg to 1000mg. And many people who do not know the dangers of excess Vitamin C, which can cause kidney stones, lambun pain and diarrhea.
Rianto further said "No solid evidence that Vitamin C can prevent influenza, heart disease, cancer or cataracts".
Other supplements are often consumed excess is Vitamin E, and Selenium Betakarotin (all including antioxidants). Many people who say that antioxidants can prevent cancer, stroke, heart disease and prevent aging. Yet to date none of the scientific evidence that supports this.
Excess vitamin E above 800mg per day can inhibit platelet aggregation to bleed easily.
In addition to supplements, types of drugs most doctors are given antibiotics, it is continuous use of antibiotics can create resistant germs. Patients are entitled to refuse if the doctors give antibiotics are not needed, because of excessive antibiotics can cause bacteria to become resistant.
